BACK TO SCHOOL - Make a Unicorn pencil case
Â
The first day of school is just around the corner and we're getting excited around here!!!! New friends, new teachers, new adventures. Grade 1 is a big deal, people!
But if I gotta be honest with you, I kind of feel like we aren't truly ready for it. Yes, I have shopped for a few new items, like shoes, and have been working on a few back-to-school projects like a couple of new dresses and sweaters, snack bags for her lunches, etc... but wherever I go I see stores packed to the brim with school supplies, and parents telling me stories about all the things their kids need. And you know what I've bought? NOTHING! I'm a total newbie in the grade school department, and I AM CLUELESS. I have no idea what my kid will need (and I can't remember what I used in school... that was centuries ago!). She has a backpack, several lunch bags, and most basic supplies, so I don't know... am I supposed to get her something else? Are there any other real 'must-haves' for first grade? Am I the most unprepared mother around? Maybe ('first world problems' written all over me).
BACK TO SCHOOL - DIY reusable snack bags
Â
If you know me, or you checked out my previous "Back-to-school" tutorial, you know that there is one thing about school that I can't stand and it's not Math (I actually really like math... weirdo). The one thing that makes me wish Summer could last forever is LUNCHES. I hate thinking about them, I hate preparing them, I hate packing them... and I hate unpacking them when they come home untouched (seriously kid, you need to eat!). But as it turns out, there's always a brighter side to every horrible thing in life (I kid, I kid, I know there are worst things... like folding laundry). The brighter side in this case is colourful snack bags that you can use and wash, and reuse over and over again. Bright, fun and eco-friendly. Check, check and check!
BACK TO SCHOOL - Customize your clothes with Iron-On Patches

There are only a couple weeks left of Summer holidays and I am having mixed feelings about the whole going-back-to-school thing. On the one hand it will be AH-MAZING to get my life back, have more time to work (uninterrupted) and have some silence around the house for a few hours each day. This was the very first Summer that I was home full-time, and trying to run a business while looking after a very energetic child is no easy task. On the other hand, we've being enjoying not having a real schedule and real bedtime a little too much the past 6 weeks, so getting back to a proper routine is going to be hard! But if I gotta be fully honest with you, the number one reason I am dreading the end of Summer is that I just hate packing lunches.Â
How to recover old folding patio chairs.
Fall may be closing in on us Northerners, but technically we still have a few more weeks of Summer... "technically". So I'm going to keep enjoying my back yard as much as I can before it gets lost under a pile of snow.
Make your own cut off shorts. Two ways. No sewing required.
Hi everyone! For my very first tutorial of the blog... or EVER... I thought I'd start with something super simple that pretty much anyone could make. Cut off shorts are possibly the easiest wardrobe piece you can make on your own, and you don't even need to know how to sew. I will show you how to make these two quick versions, cuffed and frayed, with and without sewing. So lets get started...
